To collect on the JUDGMENT, which is a legal filed document they would have to have received an assignment or sale of the JUDGMENT itself, which would have to be recorded.

If you pay them a ¢ it is money down a rathole. They backed down on the "settlement" because they hae NO rights or power to release the judgment.

As to the validity of the Florida judgment. It cannot be enforced in Florida because Fl. passed a new lien law in 2000, that took effect Oct. 2001, all new judgments have to be filed in Talahassee for entry into a State data base for any enforcement against personal property. Creditors who had filed before Oct.2001 had until Oct. 2003 to refile, or their judgment is void.

NC would not permit a default judgment to be enered for enforcement in NC. And it is past SOL for any NEW judgment to be filed.
