Whoever you spoke to at the state attorney general's office didn't know what the hell they were talking about.

If the last payment you made to the CC was before December 2000, then they have missed the deadline to file suit and they cannot 'legally' get a judgment aginst you.

If this is the case, when the collection man calls back, kindly tell his to kiss your ass, and hang up.
