Yes, ask for validation, don't worry about what they will or won't do, it really doesn't matter now. I can assure you the attorney's believe that the SOL is 10 years, and you will be hard pressed to find a Judge in Missouri that will go along with the 5 year SOL. So don't plan on that defense working for you, at least not in Missouri. Stick to validation, dispute, and C&D letter. Then just wait and see if the CA violates. I would send my validation, dispute and C&D to the CA, as if the attorney never contacted you. I would hold off corresponding with the attorney as long as you can, at least until the validation process if finalized.
