The Registry, Inc. -- Landlord/Tenant Issues

Does anyone know anything about The Registry, Inc.? It's supposedly a tenant screening/gripe forum for landlords to report bad tenants, payment histories, etc.

I had an apartment five years ago and I left the unit on bad terms with the landlord. I had a verbal month-to-month lease and I did not give a full 30 days notice when I left. I did not get evicted as far as I know. I've searched court records and found nothing. Also, nothing has ever turned up on my credit, BUT... shortly after leaving the unit in question, I applied for another and was told there was something in The Registry about me.

Does anyone know anything about The Registry? How long does information stay there? Is it regulated at all? What are my rights regarding removal of information, etc? Does this info cross state lines?

I did call them several years ago when everything first happened, but they were not very helpful (surprise, huh?) about what I could do to find out more. Their attitude was, "You're on the list. You're screwed. *click*".

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
