I recently received a phone call from JBC And associates, P.C. regarding a non payment of a Verizon Wireless account back in 1999. Actually, excuse me, I "bounced" 2 checks back in 1999. These check's were bounced using a Bank of America account. There are 2 problems right away with the above statement. 1. I have never had service with Verizon Wireless, and 2. I have never had an account with Bank of America or any of it's successors. I was originally contacted by phone concerning this matter. Later on that week I received a letter demanding payment. Although they said they would not furnish a copy of the check's until the debt was paid (implying that they do hold a copy of the checks in question) they did give me the account number which was on the checks. After receiving the account numbers, I proceeded to contact Bank of America thinking that my identity had possibly been stolen and another account had been opened under my name. When I read the account number to the customer service rep., he proceeded to tell me that there are no account's (opened or closed) that matched this account number. The only information they had correct was my current address and phone number. Oh and by the way, both were different back in 1999. This has got to be a scam. However I was reading previous posts and some stated that they were summonsed to court, to contest the charges. That just scares me. It like they just pulled my name out of a hat and said "okay, let's try to get some money out of this guy". I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to this type of thing so if anyone could point me in the right direction and get me started on a path to resolve this the best way possible I would love to hear from you. My email address is attached so please feel free to email me.

Thank you very much in courtesy of a reply.
