So I woke up the other day and found that my bank account had been frozen. Apparently a judgement was put against me for a credit card debt from 1998 totaling $1200. I had never even heard of the company before. I went to the court and filed a "order to show cause" to have the judgement reversed as I had never received the summons. I got a copy of the summons from the court and found many faulty things. First they stated they came to visit me twice in March and Once in april at my old apartment-- I moved out in February. However after speaking with my old landlord she verified that no visitations from legal representatives were received by the new tenants. Then the summons said that they affixed a copy to the door-- again false, no such documents were reported as being found on the premises. And the biggest lie of all-- they claimed that my neighbor Mrs. Liu in apartment 2A verified I lived there. No such person has EVER lived in the building with that name-- just because the apartment was in Chinatown they thought theyd get away with it. Now the lawyers are not returning my phone calls! I refiled my "order to show cause" and keeping my fingers crossed. but this is just to tell all of you, DONT BE A VICTIM, LAWYERS LIE, and if you find a lie you can get them in a lot of trouble. WISH ME LUCK!!
