WHICH lawyer told you this? The lawyer who is suing your ex employer, or a BK lawyer?

If you have judgments on file against you already, and you get a settlement, and it is not structured in such a way as to be exempt from liens, you will lose your settlement $$ anyway.

A GOOD lawyer will help you protect your interests, and not worry about "control" of a lawsuit, that is NONSENSE.

It is true, that in some commercial- business bankruptcies CH11, or possibly even a personal CH13, there could be trustee involvement in business decisions and settlement negotiations, but certainly not in a CH7.
