You need a paper trail. Immediately send out a validation letter certified mail to the CA who placed it on your credit report. After about 3 days of mailing it disputes with all the CRAs as account not mine. Even if it is paid they have to validate the account and show proof it was paid to them. If they verify the account without sending you anything then you may sue the pants off them. When they call to settle tell them if they pay your filing fee and delete the tradeline you will drop the suit. They can then choose a $1000 lawsuit with all the trappings that go with it or $35 and deletion.
