You need to request it in writing along with a dispute and a limited C&D. Then if they don't validate, you will have some recourse against them in court if you so desire. You may ask for specific things in your validation letter such as, all signed CC slips to prove the debt even exists. Your SSN is not validation, nor does it verify the debts existance, this only proves that they have your SSN attached to an unvalidated and unverified account.
