Thanks WhyChat.

The debt is around $11,000. Does that all by itself mean they'll sue? It's a lot of money, but I've got a horrible CR, lots of charge offs and a tax lien. I'm sure a CA would have to balance waiting it out vs. sueing someone, since taking someone to court could easily trigger a bankruptcy declare, in which case they would get none or very little money.

I live in CA. I last made a (partial) payment back in April 2003. Card charged off in July 2003. Last made a full, minimum payment in Nov 2002. Not sure which counts as far as the SOL is, but I'm still at least have another 3 years to go in CA.

Would a settlement offer by likely to work? I could only pay 10-20% in the near future.
