Based on what you said, a defaulted loan in collections could exist and that would be bad. I believe that there is no SOL on Federal school loans.

On the tuition, I would try and negotiate something with your school to pay and have deletion. On the loan, I would try and learn who is servicing it and make a similar negotiation to protect your credit report. Good luck.
