No it is not legal. The OC must have reasonable procedural rules in place so that this does not happen. So they can't use the bonified error routine as a defense and because of their error you have had to expend time, effort and money to attempt to correct their mistake. Additionally you and everyone else that views your credit will now see this listing for the next 2 months. You could be turned down for loans, or you may pay a higher interest rate because of their listing. It's time for court, in my opinion.

There is also case law concerning the bonified error defense and why it doesn't work. If you decide to take them to court, I will look it up for you.
