OC has no record of original balance

My citibank-At&T Universal card balance ,according to
what I gave my CCC in 1999 was 1392.00. My ccc has been
paying them $36 a month since then. citibank told me
they have changed $10. just in finance charges a month,
meaning they get $26.00 a month for the last 5 years.
My current balance according to them is $1304.85.
I asked citibank to verify the original balance for me.
They said they can only go back six months, and that they wouldn't have this information. They said my ccc
would have it. I mentioned that it makes no sence that this account is not paid off by now. Citibank said "why are you looking into this now, anyway?" I said "my accounts are almost all paid off but this one"
They told me to talk to ccc, whom I left a message for.
My ccc told me they provide me with a statement every month of what they pay out to creditors, and even if only $26.00 got paid toward original balance a month after 5 years, wouldn't this be paid off. What should I do now? Thank you all so much, in advance. You are providing a great service to people.
