Why on earth would anyone recommend you file BK over $1500? Don't take that advice! It's better to pay $1500 than to burn your credit for 10 years with a bankruptcy. If this is just one of many $1500 debts you're trying to escape I can understand going to great lengths, but if this is the only debt you've got, start weighing what it's going to cost in time and $ to fight with the court and the collector over a decision they've already reached.
