Ok, I saw my credit report at the bank today and I was surprised it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was! I do have some questions: Both collectors for Phone Company 1 and Phone Company 2 have made two exact entries, are these entries hurting my report? And how do I go about correcting this if possible. Call me a whiner, as I do have a dispute with the amounts of both of these companies. Phone Company 1, had a deal getting internet service along with my phone service for 12 bucks a month. I signed on and had them for about a year before I moved to the worlds best ISP. Using the same tactics as AOL, they would not stop the service and kept charging. The final bill is less than 250 so it’s not a lot, but I do believe they need to shave 12*12 off my bill, for services I didn’t use. I have complained on the phone but that gets me nowhere. Any advice? Again I have no problem paying the bill, IM just not going to be bullied into paying for stuff I didn’t use. THEY HAVE RECORDS OF MY USAGE, or lack of! Phone company 2, had always been shady, but I think they are the best cellular service one can get. I have a 350 dollar bill from them after they cut off my phone for not paying 49.00. Somehow, my bill went up to 189 dollars plus 150 dollars for breaking the contract. I have not a problem paying the 150 plus the 49 for the service I used. I’m assuming they think I am going to pay for 2 months of service I didn’t use as the phone was cut off. Also, when I started the service in 2000 I paid a 125 dollar deposit. Due to my job chasing airplanes and traveling around the country, I wasn’t aware that they had never sent my money back. One day after my service was abruptly cut off; I called the call center telling them I want to pay another 125 dollars if they were so scared of me cheating them out of their service. It was at that time that the CS rep told me that my original 125 deposit was still with them. AND THEY STILL CUT IT OFF! I asked why they had not sent it to me. I was told if I had a late payment they would hold the check for 3 extra months, without telling you about it. When I had another year of straight service, and I called them on the 125, I was told I never paid it; the store where I got the service didn’t have any records. So it was up to me to prove that I paid the deposit. Keep in mind on their website they tell you about this deposit too. Unless someone shows me where I’m wrong, and please do because its getting to the point where I will just pay them just to have a cell phone, I don’t feel that I need to pay them for service I didn’t have and they owe me 125 bucks! Again how do I dispute this? My ex has my receipt; however I do feel if I did all that hoop jumping they would still manage to pull something else up. The next thing I noticed that the old lender of my previous car, which was stolen and paid off by the snoopy people, are still reporting that I owe them for the car ($8900) since 99. I called the bank and they quickly asked, “was this the first time I made an inquiry.” Are they afraid of something that I don’t know? I have a First USA for 5600, Sears for 1100 and FCNB, I think the fed closed them down, for 1100 or so. These were charge offs from 98, I have no problem with any of these bills. I do owe them and can now pay them; I’m just trying to figure out how to do this so that both parties are happy. Last thing, I have a tax lien, again not expensive but I don’t think I should pay for an error of the state. I was in the service, stationed in another state, and still paying OH taxes. I think Senator John Glenn created a bill that stated if you didn’t live in the state for six months and you were in the military you got your money back. I guess it was pass as there came an official message stating the new law and had all the paperwork, my squadron legal officer signed the paperwork stating I live out of the state. My taxes were done by the military tax folks. Now in 2001 I got a call from the state auditor stating the problem. I sent her all my paperwork; I called back months later, asking them if they figured it out. They said they are 4 months behind schedule. Now in 2003 I have a lien. HOW CAN I DISPUTE THIS and what the hell is a lien? I know it’s not good… but they aren’t coming to get my property so???? Luckily, I live not to far from the marine who worked in personal and came across this!! Again, if this was an error of the state or the Marines all I should have to pay is the tax I should have paid, hell I will still get a refund. I wonder do they think I just made this all up and got some officers to sign paperwork for me. That’s it … for this credit report that is. I’m curious to see what the other 2 have. I had like a 567 score which I think I can get that up quickly with the help of this community. I also had something with a 94% on it …. The lady said it was a good thing. I’m living in OH now going to school, waiting to graduate so I can go to a third world country to work in a sweatshop! Thanks
