Yes, they can continue to contact you, but they can't really do much more than that. Collection agents will lie and threaten, and demand. I soon learned that they were not reasonable ( I went through a bad time after an accident)I simply put my machine on Fax during the time of heavy phone calls. If you have called ID, don't pick up. They are only allowed to talk to you or your spouse about your debt. If you don't have caller ID or pick up accidently, tell them you are not home. I once told a CA that I was my daughter and when he wanted to leave a message I told him I charged $100.00 to deliver messages and he could send the money to my PO Box. I got kind of quirky towards the end. I was actually sued (about 6 weeks before the SOL) by a collection agency that I never said a word to. Nope, not one word, they called continuously and left messages on my machine but I never called them back. When I was served, I simply called my attorney who called them and told them I was filing Chapter 7. I was prepared to be sued. That was that. Don't let them upset you. It's just not worth it. Incidently, I had many (lots) of credit cards and store cards, and only one actually sued. Your chances of NOT being sued are really very good. Good Luck
