There have been several cases where the OC has been held liable for the actions of their agent, a collection agency.

In order for someone to prevail, however, the OC needed to have been aware of the behavior of the CA, and needed to have been able to control the CA's activities.

This is one of the reasons OC's are so quick now to SELL the accounts, rather than assign them on a "temporary" basis.
