I've followed this forum for a long time and slowly been cleaning my credit. Here's where I ask the experts. I have an account with a major tool creditor that I returned a tool box and was given fair market value for a certain price. I've been then billed for approx 680.oo deficiency. Though I've tryed requesting a full accounting of the sale of the box and other attempts to clear all derogatory info The creditor has not been willing to work with me and has continued to list this as a repossession driving the credit score down hard. I'm right in the middle of a major loan who wants this either PAID or removed and the only thing that I can get from the creditor is an offer to change the listing to voluntary surrender or a paid chargeoff. Is one of these better than the other for now ? I believe that with some more time to build my case I can eventually have a court force the creditor to remove this and even possibly cough up some damages but I'm short of time for now. Any comments or advice on this situation will be greatly appreciated. Yes I can pay this off immediately but per this forum I'm afraid that I will lose all bargaining power if I do. I also had at one time tryed to get this listed as in dispute but is now just turned back from the credit bureaus.
Thanks. Len
