SOL in IN is 6 years for credit cards, so you've got a way to go. For 10K, you stand a good chance of being sued, that fact that you've been a student is probably what has saved you , so far, from a lawsuit. Since the debt is already 2-3 years old, if you'd like to settle, I'd offer THEM something like 30-40% to start with, if you can afford it. Do everything in writing only and pay NOTHING until you get a signed agreement and negotition for either full deletion from your CR or at least a trade-line of 'paid' or 'paid as agreed'.
