First, stop hiding your head in the sand. You have got to face up to this. It might have been easier before, but there is no time like the present.

Wait and get others input on this, but having been in a situation a little similiar to your a while back, I *think* I can give a little advice.

Second, realize you owe the debt. It didn't just jump on your cards. YOU charged these things, even if it was during a difficult time for you. YOU have to make good on that debt.

Third, call the CC's (credit card companies) and talk to them. No, they aren't going to be like talking to your grandma, but you need to talk to your creditors. Explain the situation and ask them what can be done. You want to pay the money and will pay it as you can. They may do something. But at least you aren't just hiding. You are likely on the verge of having a CA(collection agency) coming after you, and then you'll have that on your Credit Report.I'm not sure, but after the initial calls where you either settle things or you both decide that you can't agree, then tell them that you want all further communications to be in writing. (What does everyone think on this idea?)

Go to these links. Register. Read. Then Read. Then read some more. Once you've read enough that you've either gotten close to understanding things or gotten to the point that you are really confused then post some specific questions.

Don't think only of right now. It's easy to do. Sometimes you don't think it will ever get better. But it most likely will. Do what you need to for your health or whatever your situation. Work on gettig the gainful employment and then BUDGET in a certain percentage of that income to pay your debts.

Fourth, try not to run up any more debt. It's hard to fill in a deep hole while you are still digging it! : )

Wait for more responses, but these are some of my thoughts. I hope it all works out for you.
Jeremy
