Whether they contact you or not depends on who they are and their policy. Discover is pretty hard-nosed. They sue over $20 and they will sue old ladies on disability. So if you have a Discover Card, count on being sued. Some work with you. Since you have no job and are not able to pay at all, you really can't negotiate a payment plan with anyone. So basically your choices are to lay low, hope things improve and you are in a better position to pay, or go bankrupt.

Since it has been six months, chances are that both your accounts are now close to that required 180 day chargeoff mark. Once they charge it off, they will either sell it to a collection agency, or turn it over to an attorney. You will know who and what you are dealing with in a couple of months.

Changing the phone number might be a good idea especially if you can't afford to pay for their calls.
