First of all J kelly is my close friend and I am siting at her computer right now. That is not what she said. I think she said the creditors would try collecting in his own country.
Let me repeat myself, I do not condone leaving the country and not paying American debt.
That being said.
Bad credit is not criminal, it is not fraud. Homeland security has nothing to do with bad credit. It is certainly up to the credit collection agencies to collect the debt if they can. Terrorists have pleanty of money and probably do not have credit cards of anykind. Think they use cash!! Many countries do not require a visa to enter into this country. So, if as you say they pull a credit report, assuming they have the American social security number, and they see bad credit, but no fraud. So what. It is not criminal.
I think the difference between us is that you see debtors has bad people. I do not. They are mostly people who have had some bad luck. Illness, job loss or whatever. Maybe just bad judgement, but that does not make them bad people. I think mostly they are good people. As for the new bankrupcy laws. You are referring about federal bankrpcy laws. There are still state bankrupcy laws. Some states are friendly to debtors and some are not. Then I think you are underestimating the attorneys. They will find the holes. Worst case scenerio is that people will start loosing their homes and cars, and STOP USING CREDIT CARDS. Then the economy will be in trouble. If the credit card companies were not making money, they would not be soliciting customers for the cards. Everytime I make a cash purchase at a department store I am offered a credit card. People with credit spend more. It's a fact, and if the stores were not making money credit then they would not be offering it. A certain percentage of people will not be able to pay, but that is factored in. It is just business.

Happy Holidays to you too, and I really mean that sincerely, even though I think you are a collection agent of some sort. We know they frequent these boards.
