Maybe you're not pond scum, but 99% of your "profession" is. So, it's guilt by association and failure to do something about it. We talk of collectors as pond scum due to the shit they pull on an almost daily basis. The FDCPA doesn't go far enough in my opinion, and even if it did, your "profession" would continue to break it. So, do something about it instead of coming on here and saying what a nice person you are. Do you think debt collectors would care if I'm a nice person or have three dogs? They don't! The only language they understand is money, and they'll do practically anthing to get it, including telling me to sell my dogs to raise some cash.

All I can see is that you're helping yourself by working for a collection agency because you need the money. If you see the abuses everyday and do nothing about it, then you an accessory to those crimes. So, it's time to put on your whistle-blower hat and redeem yourself. And save the guilt trip about not reading the fine print for someone else, like we haven't had our noses rubbed in it enough.
