Once the accounts have been charged off and go into collection, the damage is done. Paying on these accounts will not help your credit score or hurt it. However that is only one factor in the situation. The second factor and one you should be worried about is whether you are within statute of limitations and can they take you to court and win. Judgments hurt really bad and you can't have them removed until they are paid. They become a matter of public record.

Do as Linda said. Make a list. I like the Suze Orman show. Her website has some really good information about how to get yourself out of debt and how to pay and what to pay first to maximize your paying power.

She is awesome.
