I also will forgive you for that, as like I stated before. It has been the abuse of the bad collectors of the world that have made it so that people hate all bill collectors. I am sorry that you have been mistreated. Like I tried to explain in my post. I moved to Montreal, Canada 18 months ago (husband was promoted here with his USA government job) and after sending in around 200 resumes for all kinds of sales jobs and having many interviews that didn't get past this question " Do you speak French"? I gave up.
I took a French course that I struggled through and now can say about 15 sentences, not really enough to label me as bilingual.
If you don't speak French here you cant work period..there is actually a language law called bill 101 which insists that employees speak French. Quebecois are a very serious bunch about this language and will refuse to speak any other language to you in the work place. There are also many people here that do not speak English at all. My working as a bill collector hardly constitutes me being classified as lazy by any means. I applied for many different sales jobs, spent many days regretting coming to Montreal and wondered how am I ever going to get a job. It is hard to live off of one income when you have four kids. I came across an ad for a bill collector job calling on the USA on delinquent credit cards. Trust me I spent many days considering the impact and how this job could effect me. I worried about becoming hard and callous, I worried about what kind of people I would be working with. In the end I knew that there truly was nothing else available for me and I took the job. I call people all day long and some hate me as you do, for them I say a prayer and move on to the next call. I don't fight back, yell, scream, threaten or abuse. I am just doing a job, the only job I could find after a 15 month job search. Hate me if you must, I forgive you.
