Ok, I'm not really well-versed in the area of bankruptsy, but if I choose this "bbs" route, who do I ask for at the CC company and what do I say..."I can't pay the full amount, will you let me pay 30%?" I guess about 30% of 10,000 to 12,000 would be around 4,000. I would love that, but is this what y'all are calling a "charge off"? And what if the company says no? How do I push it to get it? I filed once before when I was married back in 1990 so I know how horrendous credit collectors can be. I really don't know what to do, but I know if I contact an attorney, he/she will say to file. If anyone has any more specific information that can lead me in the right direction, email me (waaldol@yahoo.com). I need to do something soon. My credit is very good right now, but this next month's payments may start being late.
