Just a note to pass along some info. Last year about this time I too got a telephone call from CAMCO about a long charged off account from 1987. I did what everyone else does and fretted about what to do. CAMCO wanted me to send them a $2000 settlement for a $13000 debt - with no real paperwork to back all this up. I got on the web and hooked up with a nice law firm in Chicago who sued CAMCO for me on a contingency basis. Long story short the lawyers got a settlement for about $3500 of which I personally got $1000 with nothing more invested than a couple of LD calls and a couple of postage stamps. Moral: Fight back and CAMCO will likely cut and run. PS: I found the attorney on this site. You can too.
