i had (ok we cant use names here right?) a large well known chain discount store decline my check once. come to find out..someone with our exact name in virginia of all places had a frozen account cause of hot checks. . one call straightened it out easily. i dont think anyone can freeze ur account without a court hearing? or not here anyways. im sure they could try by doin it illegal. but prolly something simple occured as a lot of stores use a check cashing online thing. hasnt ever happened again altho it was hugely embarrassing at the time to hear a clerk tell me i had written hot checks in virginia when i hadnt ever been out of texas lol. gotta love the technology eh? dont be embarrassed to ask someone or ur bank..mistakes happen all the time..with so many people using computers and all nowdays. i have had the same store chain ask me about writing checks..if u write like 3 in one day they will flag it too. good precaution i guess against theft.
