Anything will work in some circumstances. The point is, if you offer to pay $$ to a CA who is no longer legally allowed to collect,you can probably get a deletion from your reports if you got on the phone and whistled a happy tune to them after paying. You could also have obtained a REAL deletion by disputing with a SOL letter and the CRA follow up dispute, and it would cost only the price of 2 CRRR letters. In the case of the "experienced" "pay for deletion when you don't have to pay at all" poster, even though she has opted out, I would bet that within 6 months the residue of the "settled" account will be stuck back on her reports in a new account with a new CA.
