Can CA remove bad debt from your Credit Report once paid?

I had an account with Victoria Secret that was charged off around 4 yrs ago. Its been a total of 7 yrs and some months since I (actually my ex) incurred the debt. A credit agency recently contacted me about the debt. Can A Credit Agencies remove a previously state bad debt from a Credit Report? And is reporting of a previously reported debt as paid in full by that CA just as good as it being totally being removed? Although its only 300 dollars I feel I have paying for the debt with all the higher interest I have been paying these pass seven years. What should I do?
