I've heard that the SOL clock for lawsuits can stop ticking if you leave the state in question. Which means if you leave the state where the debt was incurred, it is possible that you could effectively extend the SOL simply by virtue of not being there.

Questions:
1. Is this true of some states?
2. Is this what is referred to as "tolling" or do I have my terms mixed up?
3. Is that the case in New Jersey?
