Hello, I have a situation that I would like to understand a little better. Sorry if this is long. First, how do I find out if Discover has charged me off? Second, the last payment I made was about four months ago, my account has been closed for a few years, but I have been trying to make payments, usually 30/60/90/120 late. Third, I am trying to take a once in a lifetime trip on a yacht through the south pacific for an indeterminate amount of time (could be 4 months could be 4 years) and the last debt I have is 2700 to Discover, orig CL 1500. Do I HAVE to pay, or will a CO and the SOL save me from that? The people that own and are already on the boat are getting antsy and being 29 and living with the parents is getting on my nerves. Fourth, If I blow off Discover, what is the worst case and best case scenereo, and what is most likely? Fifth, I have the principle in my bank account and was suggested that I should try to settle with them and say "I will be able to borrow the amount of the principle from a 'lendor' but only if it both settles the debt and removes the black mark from my record" and to only go up a few hundred if that would do it.
Sixth and final, if anyone has good advice, feel free to email me, as I work alot to try to make the money for the trip and don't get online often.
Thanks in advance!
