Read the first few sentences of your worthless post and stopped reading.

My husband NEVER received a letter or phone call by any debt collector.
We lived overseas in The Bahamas, have you ever heard of it? It is a chain of 700+ islands and Cays (pronounced Keys) that people go to visit or live (if they can afford it or have a fantastic job that takes them to wonderful places.) Of course you can always use credit cards for the plane fare and hotel room/meals and drinks and fun and then never pay for it. It is like a free vacation you stole from your CC.

Not one letter or call ever came to our house, I actually spent several days tracking down the collection agencies from his credit reports (yes, the ones that paid pennies on the dollar). I shocked the heck out of them by telling them I actually wanted to settle HIS DEBTS HE OWED MONEY TO.

So, we did the right thing, and paid the money that he owed. I know I must be one in a million but we DO exist whether or not you choose to believe it doesn't matter to me.

BWT,
The office I work in doesn't purchase debts, we don't own them. We collect for our client that still owns them.
If we reach a settlement I have to get approval from our client to accept them. So that blows your pennies on the dollar theory right out the window in my office.
Besides, what is wrong with paying a settlement on the EXACT amount that was really charged off?

Tell me exactly why you should not pay for a purchase again?????????
