Why would anyone use a credit card for something they really can't afford?

Why on earth would anyone charge up 2,000 on a credit card when they know that they really can't afford to make the minimum monthly payments plus all of the other regular day to day expenses, if they lose their job or get sick. Where is the six months of back up in the bank collecting interest? Where are the hard saved, sacrificed CD's, what happened to saving up for something?

Please, you will NEVER convince me that using a credit card for a purchase (you really can't afford ) is justifiable.

Get real and realize that credit cards were never intended for this purpose. Credit cards should be used to develop good credit for the purchases that most people can not save up for like a mortgage. Making a small purchase monthly or within your means and paying it off right away is the way to develop good credit.

Greed is the reason for most people being in debt.
