I am offended by you and your ilk. I had AAA credit for most of my life (and I'm 47 - not some kid). I didn't live on credit, I'm not a shopaholic, I paid my bills. Then came the start of 7 years of pure hell financially. It wasn't my doing - I was laid off 3 times in 5 years and the in-between years were spent barely making it because I had to take a 40% cut in pay just to get re-employed after the 1st layoff (6-1/2 months and that was WITHOUT unemployment, ie. NO INCOME !!) I worked temp jobs at minimum wage and that just to pay the mortgage and other absolute necessities.

Guess what sister.. when you have NO INCOME, there's no way to pay anything except what is absolutely critical for survival - credit cards are NOT critical to survival and they NEVER will be.

As for paying for what was purchased - I have - over, and over, and over again. If I added up all the payments I made on purchases against the actual purchase price, I have paid for every single purchase. However, the creditors still say I owe them 2 or 3 times the amount of the purchases because they tack on ridiculous interest and fees. I have no guilt whatsoever in NOT lining their pockets by paying nothing but usurous interest and gouging fees !! They make BILLIONS that way and they keep dreaming up new fees and scams to screw the consumers.

I'll be filing bankruptcy in the next couple of months (still trying to recover from the last layoff in 2002!) and creditors and their precious CA's can all cram it down their pieholes. They will get NOTHING from me. I'm entitled to a fresh start and I'm taking it ! There is NO MORALITY where money is concerned, not now, not ever so put your morality speech away, it falls on deaf ears. I will not continue to be raped by creditors or nasty, screaming, disrespectful, bullying high school dropouts that work for CA's. The laws are in place to protect US citizens from abusive collection practices and we are entitled to use them. Its not hiding, its self-protection and self-preservation. If you don't like the way the law is being used, tough nuts. Laws get used in ways the original writers never intended every single day and it will always be that way.

So... K.M.A. dear - you and all your CA 'friends' can go hang.
