HAVE we learned anything worthwhile from this mess going back and forth? YES..........SunkissedBeach used the knowledge, wisdom and advice from our time-weathered respected posters for her OWN personal needs. (1) She helped her "DEADBEAT" husband (able-bodied, good paying job (housing included) with a 7 year old debt of $30,000 (guess he didn't read those books) pay only $8,000 (No excuses allowed for letting this debt go so long such as personal problems, etc.) (2) Originally she was afraid this debt would adversely affect her husband's job (not just a moral issue) so now being armed with FULL KNOWLEDGE of SOL and 7 YEAR REPORTING, she proceeds to contact his OC's and CA's for "SETTLEMENT". She DIDN'T and COULDN'T get a "NEGOTIATED SETTLEMENT" for SHE and THEY (the OC'c and CA's) KNEW this was a "ONE-SIDED" DEAL - THEY had no legal remedy, therefore, NOTHING could or was "NEGOTIATED" - THEY, with NO CHOICE, had to take just the "PARTIAL PAYMENT" she gave them (Could this be the reason SHE cleverly WON'T or CAN'T talk about SOL DEBT - just CURRENT DEBT?) (3)HUSBAND NOW DEBT-FREE....PAID IN FULL....GUILT-FREE....SHE'S SO VERY PROUD .............hmmmmmm........(HER THEORY) HE did SIGN those contracts to pay in Full with interest, late fees, etc.......HE didn't pay back TRUE DEBT (SOL doesn't make debt go away).........TV not REALLY paid for........."DODGED" $22,000 of DEBT......HE should have, COULD have, paid the actual DEBT he OWED (has ability to save $150,000 for new home in just 4 more years).......NOPE.........A DEBT is a DEBT (No matter how old the DEBT is - credit cards are not "FREE MONEY" - Is that a Big Screen TV?)........Didnt't STEAL $22,000 - Can't be the POT calling the KETTLE BLACK.........OH WELL - SHE'S a SAINT not a LIAR nor a THIEF.......WHAT TO DO?????.....COULD cash a CD to pay HIS OC's/CA's the REST of the DEBT OWED.........or, in this poster's humble opinion, a nice check in the amount of $22,000 to a fine USA CHARITY would be nice!
