I have hung up on collectors, while I'm speaking--to make it seem like the call was disconnected. I have a Hold button on my phone. I've used that on collector's. I've also taken messages for myself. I've also told collectors that such calls are not accepted at this number.

Last year I was baby-sitting at my ex-wife's home. One of kids answered the phone and said it was for me. Well, I was surprised since I moved out in 1992. Well, it was Chase Manhattan looking for me. So, I told her that I haven't lived there for 10 years. She kept asking if I had a phone number for myself. Of course, I insisted that I didn't. She asked me who I was. So I gave her my first name and middle name in my native language. Then she asked me how I spelled my first name. After I spelled it, she gave up trying to get information.
