How to Dump MBNA and Preserve Credit Rating?

Opened MBNA account Aug 1999 to purchase Gateway computer. Paid entire balance within 6 months (no interest). I haven't used MBNA account/card since then. In October 2003 received statement from MBNA for $183.XX. Turns out I was charged for someone elses extended computer warranty. The effort to straighten this mess out took a large amount of my time on the phone and writing letters to both MBNA and Gateway. Just received another statement from MBNA reflecting $183.XX credit. Statement also reflects that I'm being charged $1.XX for interest. It is easier for me to pay the $1.XX rather than dispute charge. What do I need to do in order to rid myself of MBNA and preserve my excellent credit rating? Thanks in advance for any and all responses.
