I am being sued! Help please!

Greetings all!
I received a paper from the sheriff on 12/22/03 stating
that I am being sued by Credigy Receivables for a Credit Card debt ($2200) that was transferred to them from First Select (original creditor Fleet Bank charged the account off in early 1999) I am in Georgia. What should I do? Call the lawyer and try to work out a payment plan? I have been working very hard to clean up my credit in the 4 1/2 years since I graduated from college.
