It sounds like your wife has a very serious problem. She would be lucky if you didn't press charges on her and put her in jail. She would be extremely lucky if you stayed with her despite this and helped her get help. Is her name on all these accounts as well? If so, she will be held liable for them from the credit cards? If she put all the cards or the majority of the cards in your name, then you have a serious decision to make because unless you file fraud reports, you are going to be held liable. The credit card companies and the loan companies will not remove your name unless you can prove that it is fraud. Also the fact that you gave her power of attorney may also skew the matter legally. They might be able to use it against you. If you are in the military, you might want to see a JAG lawyer and talk to him about the issues with your security clearance and this abuse of trust. He will be able to help you. He will also advise you on the matter of what to do. The majority of identity thefts are committed by members of our own family.
