Thank you all for your input - right now I feel like I am alone in this mess and that she somehow has the upper hand. I am so fed up with this situation that I've finally come to realize that divorce is a probable course of action. About a year ago when all this started to break wide open I asked her to get some help and she agreed, but then recanted and refuses to recognize that this is her fault.

Since she "signed me up" as a joint account holder without my knowledge, and she held those half dozen credit cards and funds from 2 loans for her use while I was in Asia for 22 months, is it possible that she could request my name be removed from these accounts and she would take sole ownership of all this debt?

Could I affix responsibility for this debt to her legally?

The state is Georgia -- is it possible for her to file personal bankruptcy (ch 7) and the court leave me and property (a motorcycle) that is in my name alone?

I know that I am all over the map with these questions but this pathetic situation covers so many areas other than just credit and debt. Thanks.
