BTW, your advice on pre-trial mediation has been printed out and passed around for individuals who have been invited to this twisting of justice in other areas of the law. (In this case, suing a landlord who did not return security deposit),

Mediation actually can work- when both sides are paying an INDEPENDENT mediator.
