This is a copy and paste.

I don't usually post my financial problems on line. But here is the situation. I was laid off the week before Thanksgiving, we were already 2 months behind on our morgage. Made payment that week, so by the end of December we are not able to make payment. We get a message on answering m/c, that we are in default of morgage. I have a 401k with enough to pay both morgages off. I called the CITI FINANCIAL, Friday asking him to send/fax me a letter stateing that I am in default, SO I can get a hardship withdrawl from 401k. He refuses to send a letter, saying that I am not in forclosure. I'm so pived. I was given a 90 day layoff, and can't touch the money until the end of the 90 days. I know I will wipe out all my retirement, and taxes are going to eat it up. BUT we are paying 13% intrest on the 1st morgage, and about 17% on the 2nd. The 401K is in a secure account only making about 5%. I don't want this debt hanging over our heads, I'm sick of stressing out about it.

I qualify for the NAA retraining and start school this week, my megar unemployment check, and DH's salary will just get us by with the morgages paid.

ANy advice on dealing with the Finance co??? I refuse to let my family go without meds, food and the necessities of life, to pay the morgage, WHEN the money is in the 401K to pay the BLAME THING off. It would have been so simple for him to just send the letter
