My husgand was laid off from his job in October. We leased this house in April, but it states that our lease does not expire until May. Which does not make any since to me, and I do not understand why it states that. In June and August we made double payments on our rent, but since my husband has been laid off, we have been late paying our rent, but we do pay the late fees. According to the lease it states that the rent payment is due on the 1st of the month. Last month, my husband spoke with the landlord and told him that we would be late on our rent and he wanted to know the late fees. The landlord stated that he had already sent us an eviction notice, and the late fees were $300. Well, if we can not afford to pay the rent, it is hard to pay the late fees, but we did. Now we have come to this again, and we were sent an eviction notice again. Well, we are being evicted, so my husband and I have decided that we are going to go ahead and move. However, our lease states that if we are break the lease than we are responsible for the payments on the house until the lease has expired. Now, if we can not afford the lease than how are we going to pay for rent in another house plus pay the rent in this house for the remainder of the lease. If someone rents this house the month after we move out, we would still be liable for the rent on the house until the lease has expired? Should we just wait and see what happens, like him sending us to court or what?
