It has to be done within that 12 year period. If they miss the twelve year period they can't renew it. Also a judgment in Maryland is only good for Maryland. They have to get it transferred and perfected in your state of Florida and then they would have to have renewed it every five years. If there is no record of judgment in your county courthouse, in your district courthouse in Florida, or in the Supreme Court (some states require that the judgments be domesticated in the Superior Court or the Supreme Court), then they can't get the judgment entered in your state because it is past the statute of limitations.

Check all of these courthouses in Florida and check your civil procedures for FLorida to find out which courthouse a foriegn judgment must be perfected.
