I too have received multiple calls from the good office of B and D and has the same concerns that others have expressed. I didn't know how to respond so, haven't. After reading the posts here I seems like that may have been prudent. I am a bit concerned, regardless of B and D being slapped on the wrist in WV as to whether it has effected their practices elsewhere(I am in Colorado) and what can be done to remove myself from their line of vision(attack?). I'd hate to have to serve them papers, even if I could afford to, as that would seem to be akin to kicking a hornets nest. I tend toward the upstanding citizen who pays his taxes type, who got laid off and now am a college professor trying to make ends meet with very limited income. I don't have time nor resource(nor the energy) to deal with a shark on the phone. I have placed student loans in forbearance, I've put my Discover card on unemployment status( college is less than part time). The main reason D and B might have contacted me might be a power move by a company called GC Services. I had made arrangements to make a payment to them via a post dated check. Made the mistake of being trusting...gave them my account information for withdrawl. Called three days prior to the date when this was to happen to inform them that my paycheck would not be directly deposited until the following weekend(3 days hence).Further told them that in stead of 125 dollars the amount needed to be changed to 25 as I needed to pay a gas bill three time what it usually was this time of year.(Local Utils. raise all rated 40+persent)OK... they sent it thru not once by three times!!! I got charge 20 bucks each time...called them... they admitted it was their fault, assured me that they were a perfect company and that this sort of thing NEVER happens and that I should get refunded the 60 dollars. Haven't heard from them since. All of the sudden I start getting calls from B and D. I wonder if it is a preemtive strike on GC Services part to try can cover their tails in case I did have the resource to serve them papers. My Credit union rep said that there my be fraud issues with what happened. At there suggestion I closed the account. NOW... here's the question. What the heck am I supposed to do now? Find an attorney who does pro bono work? I don't really know anyone. Wait and do nothing? I have, literally, no resources left. None to borrow and nothing to sell. What can I do to take myself off these individuals radar... I'm not used to this feeling of being really spooked by something I can't see and can't fight. Need some option...
