Based on the stories we have consistently heard, the C & D letter has the potential to antagonize the CA into suing you--especially if the debt is juicy.

However, if the SOL has truly run on this debt, then send the C & D and tell them to bring it on if they think they're so big and bad because SOL is an absolute defense. So, whatever you do, be sure you do it knowing *for sure* whether the SOL has run for the debt.

If they do sue you, countersue for loss wages, transportation fees, aggravation, time/effort/paperclips, whatever!
