It would be nice to know exactly what you have received. Was this a summons served by a process server? Was it sent by mail? How about citing what it says? Was the summons accompanied by a complaint?

If so, what does it say? Let me cite you an example, Case No.: WG03113313, "Complaint for Money $3,550.84; 1. Open Book Account; 2. Reasonable Value of Goods Sold and Delivered; 3. Account Stated Limited Civil Case."

Who is the Plaintiff? What kind of case is this--Small Claims Court vs. Civil Court? Is your Court system online? How much $$$$ is involved?

I seriously recommend that you read the Nolo Press book "Money Troubles: Legal Strategies to Cope With Your Debt."
