First, Original Creditors are only getting around 5 cents on the dollar on average when they sell charge offs to dumpster diving, bottom feeding, garbage collection agencies.

Now 5 quick thoughts

When a scavenger debt collector calls about any account, the stock answer should be “I have NO idea what you’re talking about. Click.” Positiviely, absolutely NEVER acknowledge that you ever had such an account with anyone at anytime. Never make any token payments whatsoever acknowledging the debt. Their paperwork is garbage and in the absence of your actually acknowledging the debt, they’ve got no proof.

Never waste your breath or sanity speaking with these lowlifes. Click. Do Not Ever think you will have a rational intelligent discussion with them or that they will be any way amenable to reason. They work the phones all day long shaking people down and nothing you have to say about anything means a whit to them. Your baby’s food is the only thing standing between them and their next hit on the crack pipe. These people are that low. Many people here will never in their lives have dealt with the likes of these gutter trash collectors, so be fair warned. The vermin involved in this extortion racket are miserable scum from the top to bottom.

Don’t feel obligated to pay a debt maggot. The OC didn’t offer to settle with you for 5 cents on the dollar so why pay someone else who bought your debt for that much. Let them keep your garbage. You don’t want it back.

Don’t fall for threats of lawsuits from “lawyers” in other states. 99% of threats of lawsuits are all bluff from debt buyers. If it would have been profitable to sue you, the original creditor would have done so rather than selling your account for 5 cents.

For all the bluff and bluster of garbage collectors, look at Asset Acceptance for an example. They pay on average 2 cents on the dollar for debt they buy. They collect on average 6 cents on the dollar for all that debt. (At least that’s all they report, but who knows, maybe they’re laundering some money to overseas interests) But overall, not too many people fall for the bs after all. Here’s to hoping even fewer people will give in to the threats.
