Need advice immediately!!! Have a judgement against me from Discover. Went to court Jan.7,2004 (last week).Brought all the proper documents they requested. lawyer is representng them. On sat. Jan.10 I received a letter from lawyer . Letter is dated Jan. 9, 2004. Here is how the letter reads:
Dear Ms. ****
This letter confirms that I (lawyer) am in receipt of your financial information. Our client has requested that your file be reviewed for further legal action.
If I do not receive MONTHLY payments in the amount of $***-*** beginning IMMEDIATELY, our client has requested that at the appropriate time, I proceed with legal action to collect the balance on this account without further notice to you.
Please CONTACT OUR OFFICE IMMEDIATELY in regards to this matter. If we do not hear from you within ONE WEEK from the date of this letter, we may move forward with the legal collection of this debt without further notice to you. Signed by lawyer.
Ok, my concern now is, They may have frozen my checking acct. It's only been 3 days. Deposit was credited today Jan. 12. I have 4 checks that should have cleared today, but did not.Is it possible that they froze my account. If so, any advice on what action I may be able take, since they said I have ONE WEEK from the date of this letter to settle this matter. And it it has been only 3 days.PLEASE, (SOMEONE WITH KNOWLEDGE ON THIS). PLEASE EDUCATE ME!!!
P.S. Never been sued ever. Be it not for Discover, I would have exellent credit. Thanks from the bottom of my heart on any advice.
